Frosted Sugar Cookies

I found this recipe on Roxana's Home Cooking and let me tell you, they are fantastic! Ingredients

1/2 cup butter, room temperature
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt

Frosting:
6 tablespoons butter, room temperature
2-1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-3 tablespoons heavy cream

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine butter and sugar on low for about 2 minutes until mixed.
  2. Beat in vanilla and the egg until mixed in.
  3. Gently fold in flour, baking powder, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt.
  4. Scoop dough with medium size scoop and refrigerate about 2 hours.
  5. When ready, preheat oven to 350 degrees F and bake for about 10 minutes.
  6. To make frosting:
    1. Beat butter on low until light and fluffy.
    2. Gently mix in powdered sugar and vanilla.
    3. Add heavy cream a little bit at a time until desired consistency.
  7. Top cooled cookies with a generous tablespoon of frosting and decorate.
